JBE have been awarded the design and build contract for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the MEP Services associated with the refurbishment of the existing Mathematical Sciences Building. The project includes the provision of high-quality teaching spaces, a range of private and group study areas and a new social space to provide an informal hub for School-related events and activities. Postgraduate taught students will benefit from a dedicated computer lab and additional study space. The project is due for completion in April 2019.

Mechanical Services include LTHW Heating, Chilled Water, Gas Fired Hot Water Generation, Underfloor Heating, Air Conditioning, Mechanical and Heat Recovery Ventilation Systems, Smoke Ventilation, Domestic Hot and Cold Water, Foul Drainage, Dry Risers, Natural Gas, BMS and Sanitary Ware.

Electrical Services include LV Distribution and Switchgear, Small Power, Modifications to Existing Busbar Systems, Internal Lighting, Emergency Lighting, Lighting Controls, Fire Alarm, Disabled Toilet & Refuge Alarms, Access Control, CCTV, TV System, Paging System, Data, Induction Loops, Photovoltaics, Lightning Protection, Earthing and Bonding.

The project has a minimum BREEAM Target Rating of ‘Excellent’.
